Naroda Industries Association (NIA) was incorporated during the year 1968, to provide
a wide range of community and support services to its 700 members i.e. mainly the
Industries located in the Naroda Industrial Estate. The Association, since
its inception, has continued to play a pivotal role in addressing the needs of its
Members.
SALIENT FEATURES
GIDC Estate, Naroda was established during the year 1964, with the prime objective
of encouraging and spreading entrepreneurship attitude among the Trading Sector,
particularly in Small Scale Industries (SSI) Sector.
The Estate measures to 337 Hectors and houses 689 Plots and 426 Sheds. There
are housing colonies also, to benefit the workers and owners.
The Estate is self sufficient with all the infrastructural facilities i.e. Water
Supply, Roads, Street Lights, Telephone Exchange, Post Office, Hospitals, Canteens
and a Police Chowky.
There are around Thirty-One types of Classified Industries, i.e. Dyes, Dye-Intermediates,
Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Foundry, Agrochemicals, textiles, electronics
etc.
NIA PROFILE
The Association is managed by a team of elected official by the members, once in
every Two Years.
The Managing Committee comprises of the President, Vice President, Hon. Secretary,
Hon. Jt. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Jt. Treasurer, Past President and Committee
further consisting of Elected Members and Three Co-Opt. Members, with an objective
to give representation to the maximum number of Industries in the Decision Making
Body, are also nominated by the President.
The Managing Committee is further supported by Sub-Committees to look after day
to day operations in the areas of Electricity Supply, Water Supply, Sewerage Facilities,
Infrastructural Facilities etc. There are other Sub-Committees who look into
long term objective like GIDC matters, Infrastructural facilities, Power etc.
THE ACHIEVEMENTS
NIA is proud of its achievements of the following Associate Companies and Committees.
NARODA ENVIRO PROJECTS LTD [NEPL)
Naroda Enviro Projects Ltd. (NEPL), a company incorporated under the Companies Act,
1956 was promoted by NIA to set up a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) of 3
million liters per day capacity at a cost of Rs. 80 million.
The CETP has capabilities to undertake primary, secondary and tertiary treatment
of effluents received from about 250 members in Naroda Industrial Estate.
NEPL has also set up a first largest secured Landfill site (known as TSDF Facility)
at Odhav with a membership base of about 1400 units all over Gujarat. The site covers
an area of 36 acres with secure pits of 0.8 million M³ capacity.
NEPL has constructed an additional pit at Odhav recently to meet the future requirements.
There is also availability of additional land for future requirement of Industry.
NEPL has successfully achieved the National and International acclamation - i.e.

Excellence Award from 2001 to 2005.
2. Golden Peacock Environmental
Management Award to Naroda Enviro
Projects Limited for clean Technology.
3. Award from Gujarat Harticulture Association for Consecutive
3 Years.
4. International Gold Award at New York, USA by Business Initiative
Directions (BID) - 2009
5. Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award 2009.
NIA CHARITABLE HOSPITAL TRUST
NIA formed a Charitable Trust with the support of its Members during the year 1994
and has set up a Community Hospital known as NIA Charitable Hospital. This
Hospital provide emergency and OPD Services to a vast community of the residents
and nearby villagers.
This hospital has Doctors in the areas of Allopathy, General, Skin, Homeopathy,
Ayurvedic etc. Annual Medical Camps are held wherein Free Medical Services
are provided to the large segment of the Society. Every year around 17000
persons takes the benefit of the Hospital Trust.
NARODA ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING COMMITTEE (NEMC)
With an objective of monitoring, controlling and supporting the cleaner production,
NEMC was set up during the year 1996.
With a team of large number of monitors round the clock vigilance is maintained,
inspections are conducted, samples are drawn, analysed and errant Units are initially
instructed and adviced to take corrective action. NEMC also take action on the repeat
failures by imposing financial and operation suspension penalties.
TREE PLANTATION AND ESTATE BEAUTIFICATION AND GREENING PROJECT
NIA initiated this project in 1994 in co-operation with GIDC, AMC and NIA members
as a part of its commitment to protect and continuously enhance the environment
in the Naroda Industrial Estate. Recently signed MOU with GIDC and taken passession
of open Plots / Green Space and Planted 20,000 saplings and provided Wire Fencing
of 4000 running meters. In short time with forest Dept. Going to develop Nursery
and every year 2 Lac saplings will be distributed.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Under the Ahmedabad Industrial Cluster Development Projects, GIDC Estate, Naroda
has been selected under the Government of India's Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation
Scheme (IIUS). Under this Scheme the Estate will get financial Grant for the
upgradation of Roads, Storm Water Drainage facilities Disaster Management, Gypsum
Washery, Common Testing Lab etc.
NARODA UTILITIES SERVICES (NUS) THE SPV
The Company NUS will implement all the infrastructural Development Projects in the
Estate of Naroda. NUS is registered under Section 25 of Company's Act.
The elected President, Vice President, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer are the
Board of Directors of the Company beside the other nominated Directors and co-opted
Directors.
NOVEL INFRASTRUCTURE LTD. (NOVEL)
To the purpose of participation under the Ministry of Commerce Government
of India's IIUS, NIA has participated in a Joint Sector Company registered under
Section 25 of the Company's Act with the neighbouring Industrial Estates of Odhav
and Vatva. The Company has four directors of Naroda Industries Association
and will implement the Project granted by Government of India.
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH AHMEDABAD MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (AMC)
During the month of October 2005 NIA has executed a Historic MoU with the Municipal
Commissioner of the AMC and as a result, 75% of the Property Tax collection of the
Estate will be available with the NIA and NUS to undertake all the necessary Infrastructure
Development and maintenance work of the Estate.
TAKING OVER OF WATER SUPPLY SCHEME FROM GIDC
Since April 2005, by signing an Agreement with the GIDC, NIA has started participating
in the objective of the Water Supply Scheme in the Estate with a sole objective
of regular Supply of water at most reasonable rates. The success of the involvement
of NIA in the Scheme has prompted the GIDC authorities to offer to NIA to run the
Water Supply Scheme by SPV Naroda Utilities Service - Water Supply Scheme.
Hence from March, 2009, NUS has taken over Water Supply Scheme from GIDC and operating
successfully.
